The month of May typically tends to be pretty busy being a teacher, but mainly for anyone in their 20's at this time in life. May is the beginning of . . . . you guessed it - wedding season! Everything from fun bridal showers to bachelorette/bachelor parties to actual weddings . . . this season is BUSY. All of these events are so exciting and fun to be at, but it makes little time for a big anniversary trip if you are one of the guilty couples who got married during the typical wedding season.
Since we got married over Memorial Day, we knew we would have a 3 day weekend. This is just enough time to get away for a little while to relax and spend some quality time with each other. So, my sweet husband did some research and found this adorable B+B in Washington, Tx. (near Brehnam for those of you who love Blue Bell). Lillian Farms. Doesn't it just sound cute without even knowing anything about it?
It overlooks about 230 acres of bluebonnet country (when in bloom) and is the most relaxing, low maintenance place we could have gone.
You have the option to stay in the main house, but we decided to rent a cottage in the "Enchanted Forest" or the west property of the farm. In this cottage we got to cook our dinner and take a nice walk around the property. Oh, did I mention we got to take our fur child? Well, we did and she had a ball! Here are some pictures.
This is the main house.. It is so antique and overlooks this gorgeous pond and more bluebonnets.

This was the view right outside out cottage. . . essentially what one could call the "Enchanted Forest"
Piper was totally in her element and was dying to explore. Of course, I'm automatically terrified of a snake lying under the brush. . . attacking her. . . and then us rushing to whatever animal hospital is near Washington, Tx. Some of you might be thinking this is me being overly dramatic, but when your dog does the last thing on earth you would expect (like eating a roofing nail and having to have major emergency surgery). . . you tend to be a little extra careful. ;) So this means that all of her prancing around in the brush was not appreciated.
She obviously cares. . . right?
This was our view looking out the front porch. Beautiful.
And then of course it was time for a walk.
Just fields and fields of flowers. . .
At the end of our walk we found the stables. Unfortunately they are not used for horses, but was set up for weddings. I'm just going to guess that this place is stunning during bluebonnet season. . .
After our walk we came back and "cooked" dinner. For us, that meant that we stopped by Sam's on the way up and got some delicious Jack Daniels pulled pork and a lot of mac and cheese. Put that pulled pork on some King Hawaiian sweet rolls and scoop out a nice heaping of mac 'n cheese and you will be good to go. :)
Obviously dinner was delicious. We spent the rest of the night enjoying each others company and hanging around the cottage. It was so peaceful.
The next morning we got up and cooked breakfast which was left for us in the fridge. My husband made us some wonderful eggs and then tried to burn the cottage down by putting biscuits in the oven. We've decided to leave all things cooking up to me now. . . which I can't say is that much more encouraging!
I ended the morning with a massage while Casey and Piper went to play.
Overall this was much needed, relaxing trip. It was good to get out of our normal environment. We spent the rest of the night at home relaxing and getting ready for the work week. Casey and I were refreshed, but it is safe to say that Piper was worn out. She curled up on Casey's chest like a little baby and passed out.
It was so sweet to get to spend time together talking about life and sharing what the Lord had taught us in marriage this past year. I'm am excited to share with you all some of the thing we learned! For now.. have a great rest of your week!!
