This is what we call our dog (aka fur child) on a regular basis. This started when we got her because she looked just like a little stuffed animal bear. Because of this she has multiple names: Piper, Piper Anne, Bear, Piper Bear, Sugar Bear, Snuggle Bear… and anything else that you can attach the name "Bear" to. I obviously couldn't help myself with all the "pet" names. Literally.
Last week was rough for miss Piper Anne. Occasionally, both Casey and I have weeks with long days where little missy doesn't go outside and play enough to exhaust all of her energy - and the Lord knows that she has endless amounts of that. Casey and I hate when we have to leave her for those days because we think it has got to be so boring, right? To sleep and wait around all… day.. long.
And she really does. When she was a puppy, we figured out she genuinely does not play with toys, chew on bones, or do anything else but sit and pout on the couch until we get home. I don't know how she does it. I guess she just loves us THAT much! ;)
Now actually, it is a huge blessing that she doesn't go stir crazy and chew things up, however, there is one downfall…. THE pouty face. It is real and she does not hesitate one second to let us know how she feels about us leaving for the day.
Every time we shower, or go through any normal routine… she assumes her pouty face in her pouting positions (bed, couch, or next to shower as we are getting ready) so we feel horrible about leaving her alone.
She really is an excellent pouter and I'm not going to lie… it sometimes makes me later than normal as I try to console her and tell her that it really won't be THAT long of a day (yeah right).
But then you have the flip side… coming home.
She sees you through the back door and is just beside herself that you are FINALLY home….and...that she gets to play with her soccer ball outside. But really its just because of us being home, right?
Of course it is. I'm gonna stick to that.
Ant then there are those sweet, precious times when all of her energy has run out… and she becomes our sweet snuggle bear.
You can't deny the sweetness… all 63lbs of her.
We love all of our bear's, but we (I) love snuggle bear the most. Of course my favorite is when I can lay my face into her huge, poofy, soft fur after it has gotten long for the winter.
We'll save all the crazy madness of her long fur for another post, but for now we'll just enjoy the sweet snuggles of a furry bear.
