So for this Thanksgiving we got to spend the whole week in Houston seeing friends and I cannot begin to tell you how full my heart was after this week of visiting friends and family in Houston.
Before we made it to Houston, however, the hubby had some work to do in College Station, so we spent the afternoon hanging in C-Stat. Because it was going to be a couple of hours, Bear and I decided to do some exploring around good ole Aggieland. Our first stop was a park I found on google maps and WHAT DO YOU KNOW it was a dog park. (praise hands). We had some fun getting all of this fur baby's energy out but still had some time left over.
So what do we do??
Duh. Campus.
First stop: Home of the 12th man. She was so pumped and told me her dream was to run out on the field with Reveille.
We took a picture next to the Yell Leader statue to make Dad proud.
She saw the Century Tree but absolutely would NOT pose under.. because you know what that means... Still waiting for the true doggie love.
We got to see the new beautiful MSC, unfortunately no pond hopping for Piper.
And of course ended back at Kyle Field...
Now, I bet you are wondering? How in the world did she get the picture with both Piper AND her in there??
Don't. you. worry.
While trying to take a selfie... a good ole Ag came up and offered to take our photo.
He thinks I'm insane.
I think it's hilarious.
When Casey was finished we went and grabbed us some delicious FUEGO and finally made it to Houston.
Unfortunately Case had more work to do the next couple of days, so meanwhile I got to drive around and visit a few friends before they took off for the holidays! I did not get pictures of all of them, but these pretty roomies had some more mexican food (because you can never have enough) with me one day. My heart was so full getting to catch up on life with them and some other dear friends from my previous school.
Wednesday was the celebration of Mr. Schaefer's birthday, my ADORABLE father-in-law, at a place called Brookwood Community out in Brookshire. Here is a description of what Brookwood is:
Through the Grace of God, The Brookwood Community provides an educational environment that creates meaningful jobs, builds a sense of belonging, and demands dignity and respect for adults with disabilities.
This facility has an amazing restaurant, greenhouse and store filled with beautiful and delicious things! We love Brookwood and had such a fun afternoon! If your are in the Houston area, check out their website here.
And that afternoon: the Thanksgiving festivities begin!
What is so cool about the Schaefer family is how much they genuinely love hanging out with each other for HOURS... DAYS..!! It is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. They have dinner together the night before, come over for coffee that morning, lunch, nap, play red dog, eat again, and then hang out the next day! And I'm not just talking about like a few people here, it is a large crowd full of fun, energy, caring, personalities. It has been so fun to experience holidays with this side of the family! AND I got to take the family photo ( I WAS SO EXCITED)
Love these sweet people and am blessed to be a part of their family.
On Friday we took off for back home and I got a chance to also see my sister and my dad, my okies who were in town!
Unfortunately, breakfast with dad did not result in any photos due to the fact that my brain wasn't quite turned on into photo taking mode. But we did get a few pics with my mom and got to celebrate Molly's 22nd birthday! I think I am more excited than she is because I miss singing 22 and actually being 22!!
To end Thanksgiving week... I decided to go ahead and decorate for Christmas this year (we have a tree and everything!!). So naturally I climbed up with my Grandma in her Christmas Play Store (aka her attic) and she supplied ALL of my Christmas needs... and more.. SO THANKFUL!
Overall, it was a successful break and we made it back to Dallas safely. We are now on the stretch to Christmas. What a sweet season to focus on the sweetest gift that is Christ Jesus.
Hope you all had a wonderful break and are getting back into the swing of things! Praying for you and your family this Christmas!
